One unusual glass technique that Jeff likes to use is the production of "crackle" glass. Here is how it is done:
He begins by taking several gathers of hot glass and incorporating all of the colors that he wants the piece to have. Then he heats it very hot. It is very fluid at this stage and it is very difficult to rotate the blowpipe fast enough to prevent the glass from dripping off. It is then rapidly plunged into cold water.
