Making a Plate Here is a brief description of some of the major steps involved in glassblowing. As you will see, most of the steps are the same regardless of the final shape of the piece.
Jeff begins by heating the end of a blowpipe until it is red hot. The furnace in the background contains the molten clear glass (at about 2100º) that he will gather onto the hot blowpipe.
